Born and raised in Brazil, Mayara Ramaldes lived in New Zealand for 10 years before making Hong Kong home for the last 8 years.
Impassioned to change lives, as Managing Director and co-owner of CrossFit Typhoon in Hong Kong, Mayara is guided by her training as a strength and conditioning coach. Supporting the achievement of each individual’s wishes. Seeing them conquer challenges, reach personal goals and realise their dreams.
I've been doing Crossfit for 13 years and coaching for 10 years. I always loved sports and tried many but chose Crossfit because it is the one that has challenged me the most, not only in strengthening and conditioning but also mentally. You have to have the right mindset to perform the workout and compete and that's what I teach to the crossfit community, it's not only physical but your mind has to be on the game as well. That's the big difference and makes you improve fast.
I am still learning every day even after 13 years, I still have so much space to grow and improve.
Receiving the feedback from clients saying "how I have changed their lives", "how lucky they are to have me as a coach", "how much weight they lost", "I look better now at 45 years old than I was at 16", those are absolutely priceless for me.
One client is 78 years old and one of the first movements I worked with her was how to stand up from the ground as she couldn't do it by herself, now she does burpees and wants to learn how to climb ropes. She says it took 70 years to find me, and seeing people achieving their dreams like this, makes all worthwhile.
When it comes to wearing jewelry, I never found anything I could use when training and sweating. But with Luah I feel the designs complement my style, people have noticed and commented on how it suits me which boosts my confidence. I'm looking forward to working with the brand."
