Shanghai Strolls, Vol. 1: May in the French Concession

We were in Shanghai in May, scouting and shooting ahead of Charming Shanghai — our first-ever pop-up in the city. Anfu Road had the energy. Wulumuqi Road had the light.

We came with a bag full of Mini Charms and a loose idea of where we wanted to go. The rest we figured out as we walked.

May in Shanghai has a specific feeling — not quite summer, not quite spring, somewhere in between where everything feels a little softer. The yellow showed up everywhere: in what our models wore, in the walls we shot against, in the city itself.

It wasn't planned. It just made sense.

The Mini Charm Collection was made for exactly this kind of day. A gold pendant sitting against a linen shirt, a film camera around the neck — the jewelry working alongside life rather than interrupting it.

Further down the same street — a butter yellow dress, the Mini Sapphire Star Charm on the hoop, the Keepsake Padlock Charm framed by Orys White Sapphire Spacers sitting center on the chain.

There's something about shooting in a city for the first time. You notice things differently.

Our favorite look from the day was probably the simplest one — shot on Wulumuqi Road just as the early evening light came in. White frayed bucket hat, yellow-trim knit, raw-hem white bermuda shorts, white crew socks, cream sneakers.

The jewelry — the Barley Noir Beaded Bracelet stacked with Essential Rings — clean, warm, understated. At the neck, a mixed-metal stack featuring a statement pendant from the Zary Series styled on the Nora Mini Link Chain.

Effortless but specific. The kind of thing that looks like you didn't try, which usually means you tried a little.
