Some of the best jewelry in Hong Kong isn’t found in the flagship stores along Queen’s Road Central. It’s on the side streets climbing up toward Hollywood Road, where small studios and independent boutiques sit quietly between galleries and cafés.
I work at LUAH, one of those boutiques, and the team and I spend a lot of time exploring these streets. We know we’re not the only studio worth visiting, so here are a few of our favourite neighbours.
1. LUAH Jewelry
Address: 6–10 Shin Hing Street, Central
We might be a little biased, but we’d love for you to start with us. At LUAH, our designer Kelly Rolim brings her own perspective to creating jewelry that’s made to be worn your way, whether that means finding a new everyday favorite or adding something different to your usual stack. We also make all our pieces completely waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about taking them off throughout the day.
If you’re in the neighbourhood, pop by and see the collection in person. You can take your time trying things on, experimenting with different combinations and finding something that feels like you.
2. Green Lemon Atelier
Address: 85 Hollywood Road, Central
If you like finding pieces that feel a bit more unique, Green Lemon Atelier is a good place to start. Founded by French designer Chloé, the boutique brings together jewelry from independent labels, including Parisian brand Les Cleias, alongside clothing and upcycled accessories. Expect a colourful mix of designs, with plenty to look through if you enjoy discovering smaller brands and pieces that bring a pop of colour.
3. The Little Finger Studio Jewelry
Address: PMQ, Hollywood Block, 2/F, H206, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central
If you’re drawn to jewelry that feels closer to wearable art, The Little Finger Studio Jewelry is worth a visit. Founded by Hong Kong contemporary jeweler Wing-Han “Pinky” Wong, the studio explores unusual shapes and forms through carefully considered metalwork.
The studio also offers jewelry workshops, so if you’ve ever wanted to try making a piece yourself, you can get a little hands-on here.
4. Obellery
Address: PMQ, Block B, H402-H403, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central
While you’re exploring PMQ, stop by Obellery to discover contemporary jewelry from independent designers. The studio brings together handcrafted pieces with a focus on design, making it a useful place to browse if you’re looking for something beyond the usual high-street styles.
You can also take part in workshops, including silver ring-making sessions. It’s a nice option to have if you’d rather make your own piece than leave with something straight off the shelf.
5. ORIENTSENSES
Address: PMQ, Hollywood Block, 3/F, H308, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central
For jewelry that brings together Asian influences and contemporary design, have a look at ORIENTSENSES. Founded in Hong Kong in 2008, the brand works with sterling silver and materials such as jade, Akoya pearls, lapis lazuli, and onyx.
If you enjoy jewelry with a connection to craftsmanship and culture, this is one to explore. The designs offer a modern take on familiar materials, making them interesting to browse even if you’re not usually drawn to traditional styles.
6. Jade in Style
Address: PMQ, Block A, 4/F, S409, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central
Jade has a long history in Chinese jewelry, but it doesn’t have to feel traditional. Jade in Style takes a contemporary approach to natural Myanmar jadeite, bringing the stone into designs that feel suited to modern wardrobes.
If you’ve been curious about jade but aren’t sure where to start, this is a good place to see how the material can be used in more contemporary settings. It’s also worth a look if you’re interested in exploring a different side of Hong Kong’s jewelry scene.
An Honourable Mention: The Polska Traveller
Address: Shop 11F, G/F, 118 Connaught Road West, Sai Ying Pun
If you have time to venture a little further west of Central, The Polska Traveller is definitely worth the visit. Founded by Hong Kong designer Sau-Lun Yeung, the brand draws inspiration from old objects, found materials, and botanical forms, turning them into distinctive pieces of jewelry.
The designs have a thoughtful, almost vintage feel, making this a good stop if you enjoy jewelry with a story behind it. It’s outside the main Central shopping area, but worth considering if you’re interested in independent designers doing things a little differently.
Make a Day of Jewelry Shopping in Central
You can easily spend an afternoon exploring the jewelry shops around Central. Start around Shin Hing Street and Hollywood Road, then make your way over to PMQ to see what the independent designers have on offer. There’s plenty to browse, and you never know what you might come across along the way.
And if you’re nearby, come by LUAH on Shin Hing Street. We’d love to see you, whether you have something specific in mind or just want to try a few things on.
